Répertoire

The recipes that tie us together.

The first app built for the recipes that matter most — the ones written by hand, passed down through generations, and too precious to lose.

Scroll

It's sitting somewhere in your house right now.

Maybe it's a wooden box with brass corners, the kind your grandmother kept on the counter between the flour canister and the coffee pot. Maybe it's a manila envelope stuffed behind the cookbooks. Maybe it's a stack of index cards held together with a rubber band that's been brittle since 1987.

Inside: her handwriting. His shorthand. The measurements that don't make sense until you remember that the teaspoon in that kitchen was actually a tablespoon. The instruction that just says "cook until it smells right" because that's all the instruction it ever needed.

These are not recipes. They are evidence that someone stood in a kitchen and made something with their hands and loved you enough to write it down.

Every family has a box. Almost nobody has digitized it. And every year, a little more of it fades.

The Problem

Nobody has solved this.

Every recipe app starts from the same assumption: you found a recipe on the internet, or you're inventing one from scratch. The industry has built beautiful tools for both of those workflows.

Nobody has built a serious tool for the third workflow — the one that is arguably the most important:

You have a recipe on paper. You need it to survive you.

The apps that claim to solve this treat it as an afterthought. A manual entry form. A photo attachment buried in notes. A clumsy import that strips all the soul out of the card and turns it into a database row.

They miss the point entirely. The handwriting is not a problem to be solved. The handwriting is the whole thing.

The Solution

What Répertoire does.

Répertoire is built around a simple, profound idea: a family's recipes are heirlooms, not data points. It treats them accordingly.

Scan & Transcribe
Point your camera at any recipe — a handwritten index card, a torn magazine page, a Post-it note. The app reads it using on-device AI, then shows you a clean transcription alongside the original photograph. The original is always preserved.
📖
Living Provenance
Every recipe carries a story. Who gave you this? When did you first taste it? What do you want the next generation to know? The app treats memory as a first-class ingredient.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
The Family Collection
Up to 25 family members can contribute to a shared recipe box via iCloud — no accounts, no passwords. Each adding their own cards, their own stories, their own photos of the originals.
✏️
Your Notes, Their Recipe
The original card is frozen in time — untouched, honored, preserved. But you can layer your own adaptations on top. Your changes live alongside the original without ever overwriting it.
📚
The Generational Export
Compile a gorgeous, print-ready Family Recipe Book — the kind you'd print at a shop and give as a gift. The kind that ends up on the shelf next to the original box.

Your aunt passes away and you're helping clean out her kitchen. There's a box on the counter. Inside: forty years of index cards. Her handwriting, her mother's handwriting, a few cards in Italian from someone whose name you don't recognize.

You open Répertoire. You scan the first card — her braised short rib recipe, written in blue ballpoint, with a coffee ring in the corner that's been there since before you were born. The app reads it, structures it, and shows you the transcription alongside the original photograph.

You write a note: "Aunt Maria made this every Christmas Eve. The house smelled like this recipe for three days. I have never tasted anything better in my life."

Three weeks later your cousin in Phoenix opens the app. She sees the card. She adds her own note: "I watched her make this when I was seven. She let me stir."

· · ·

Next December you make the short ribs. The recipe is complete. The memory is whole.

This is what preservation feels like when it's done right.

Be Honest

You have recipes you need to digitize right now.

Cards you're worried about. A box you've been meaning to get to for years. You've been waiting for an app that understood what was actually in that box.

That it wasn't data. That it was your people.

Répertoire understands.

Preserve what matters.

Répertoire is coming to iOS, iPadOS, and Mac.
