Ladle

Restore Ladle Pro on a new device

Open Ladle, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with. One purchase covers your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

My recipes aren’t showing up on another device

Check that iCloud is turned on for Ladle in your device’s settings, and that Settings › Data & Sync in Ladle shows Synced. A large library can take a few minutes to arrive on a new device.

A recipe didn’t import correctly

Try sharing the page from Safari instead: tap Share, then Ladle. You can also correct any recipe yourself by tapping the pencil, and Revert to Original brings back what was imported.

Scanning a cookbook

Use good light, flatten the page, and scan one page at a time when you can. What you scan is a draft: check it in the preview and fix anything before saving. Tap the recipe’s photo later to see the original page again.

Getting your recipes out

Share any recipe as a PDF or a .ladle file from its ··· menu. Export a whole folder from the folder’s menu, or your entire library from Settings.

Tare

I bought Convert Simple. Do I pay again?

No. Tare is Convert Simple, rebuilt, and it arrives as a free update with Pro already unlocked. Settings shows “Included with your Convert Simple purchase.” On a new device, sign in with the same Apple Account, and if Pro doesn’t appear, tap Unlock Tare Pro, then Restore Purchases.

Open Tare, go to Settings, tap Unlock Tare Pro, then Restore Purchases, while signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with.

What “Almost” and “A generous” mean

When an answer falls between measuring spoons, Tare rounds to the nearest amount you can measure and tells you which way it went. “Almost 4 Tablespoons” is a hair under four; “A generous 2 tablespoons” is a hair over. The gauge shows how close, and the exact figure is underneath.

My favorites or custom ingredients aren’t on another device

Check that iCloud is turned on for Tare in your device’s settings, and that Settings › iCloud Sync in Tare says On. Conversions themselves never need a connection.

The widget and the Apple Watch app

To add the widget, touch and hold your Home Screen, tap Edit › Add Widget, and choose Tare. If the Apple Watch app didn’t install on its own, open the Watch app on your iPhone and install Tare from My Watch.

Asking Siri

Say “Convert cups to grams in Tare” or “Convert a measurement in Tare,” and Siri asks for the rest. Tare’s actions are in the Shortcuts app, too.
